Brandon De Wilde, who played the young boy Joey Starrett in Shane (1953), appeared as John Wayne’s son, Ens. Jeremiah ‘Jere’ Torrey, in In Harm’s Way (1965).
Unfortunately, Wilde’s acting career and life were cut short when he died in an automobile accident in 1972.
On July 6, 1972, Wilde was on his way to the hospital in Denver, CO, to visit his wife had recently undergone surgery, when he was killed in an automobile accident. He was only 30 years old.
