Burt Reynolds was admitted to the hospital for being dehydrated along with a bad case of the flu. He’s expected to make a full recovery, and Tough Guy Wisdom hopes it is real soon. As a get well soon message, here’s a classic Tough Guy line from one of Burt’s films:
“Well, I’ve been knocked down, blown up, lied to, shit on, shot at. I’m not a virgin except in my heart. Nothing much surprises me anymore except what people do to each other. I’m a licensed pilot. I’ve lectured on economics at Yale. And I can memorize the front page of The New York Times in five minutes and repeat it back to you in five weeks. I was national Golden Gloves champion three years in a row, and I’m fluent in four languages, and … don’t interrupt me, I’m not through … Yeah, I lie a lot.”
Burt Reynolds as Nick ‘Mex’ Escalante – Heat (1986)
Setting:
Escalante tells Cyrus Kinnick (Peter MacNicol) his qualifications when Kinnick interviews him regarding a bodyguard job while Kinnick gambles.
