Juan Lacas (Marc Anthony) is late for class and Shale tells him he will write “I’m sorry” on the blackboard 100 times. They have a stand-off to see if Juan will do it. This was Shale’s advice.

Marc Anthony, who played gang leader Juan Lacas, won an ALMA award for Outstanding Performance of a Song for a Feature Film for the song “I Want To Spend My Lifetime Loving You” in The Mask of Zorro (1998).
